Coastal Women Picked Fifth, Men Tabbed Eighth in Sun Belt Preseason Coaches Poll

CONWAY, S.C. – The Sun Belt Conference released the men's and women's cross country Preseason Coaches' Polls on Wednesday. The Chanticleer women were selected to finish fifth, while the men's program was picked to finish eighth.
The Chants will open the 2024 season next Friday (Aug. 30) at the CSU Buccaneer Invitational in Charleston. Coastal's lone home meet, the Chanticleer Challenge, is set for Friday, Sept. 13, at the Hackler Course on CCU's campus.Â
The Chanticleer women finished fourth at the Sun Belt Championship last season and return defending individual champion Molly Jones. The men return Nehemiah Cionelo and Trey Kraimer, who combined to finish first for Coastal's in all six meets in 2023, from last year's squad that finished eighth at the conference meet.
Both defending Sun Belt champions, the App State men and Arkansas State women, were picked to repeat as conference champions. The Chanticleers will compete in the Sun Belt Championships on Nov. 1 in Foley, Ala.
