NEW ORLEANS, La. – Coastal Carolina men's soccer standouts
Loed Klaasen and
Angel Lopez have been recognized by the Sun Belt Conference for their outstanding seasons, the league announced Friday. Klaasen was named to the All-Sun Belt First Team, while Lopez earned a spot on the All-Sun Belt Freshman Team.
Klaasen, a key playmaker in the Chanticleers' midfield, has appeared in all 13 matches this season, tallying four goals and seven assists. His 0.58 assists per match rank seventh nationally, while his 1.15 points-per-match average sits ninth in the Sun Belt. The midfielder leads Coastal and ranks sixth in the league with 2.00 shots per match, maintaining a .308 shots-on-goal percentage across 1,083 minutes of play.
Lopez made an immediate impact in his debut season for the Chants, appearing in 11 matches with eight starts. The freshman ranks seventh in the Sun Belt with 1.18 points per match, 10th in total goals (5), and third in game-winning-goal average (.182).
