CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina softball team welcome the UNC Tar Heels for a midweek matchup on Feb. 12 at 6 p.m. ET.
LAST TIME OUT
- Coastal posted a 3-1 record at the Kickin' Chicken Classic, earning two wins over Creighton and one over Purdue Fort Wayne.
- Nicolette Picone pitched two complete games while allowing just one earned run to pick up two wins in the circle.
- Sophomore Abby Henderson pitched a complete-game shutout against Purdue Fort Wayne to earn her first win of the year. Henderson recorded three strikeouts and allowed just one hit in the outing.
- Five Chants—Clara Hudgens, Brie Normandin, Georgia Hood, Keirstin Roose, and Delaney Keith—hit over .400 during opening weekend.
- Hood led the team with two home runs and five RBIs.
- The Chants went a perfect 12-for-12 in stolen bases, with Roose leading the team with four on the weekend.
HISTORY AGAINST
- CCU has a 4-27 all-time record against UNC.
- The first matchup was in March 1990, and CCU suffered a 3-2 loss.
- Coastal will be looking to snap its four-game losing streak to the Tar Heels.
- Coastal's last victory over UNC was in March 2014, when the Chants claimed a 3-0 win. Associate Head Coach Kiana Quolas helped lead the Chants to victory, pitching a no-hitter in the outing.
- Coastal has a 1-4 home record against the Tar Heels.
- Head Coach Kelley Green will look to improve on her 1-5 record against UNC.
