Brooks Named Sun Belt Conference Player Of The Week

NEW ORLEANS ---- Coastal Carolina women's basketball's Savannah Brooks was named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week for her performances in the wins over Texas State and Buffalo, the league office announced Tuesday.
 
The honor is Brooks' first of her career while she becomes the first Chanticleer earn the distinction since Aja Blount on Dec. 6, 2022.
 
Brooks helped lead Coastal to a perfect 2-0 week with a road win at Texas State before returning home to defeat a Buffalo team that sits in second place in the Mid-American Conference standings.
 
In San Marcos, she played 38 minutes on her way to an 18-point performance with five steals and five assists to help the Chants to a 68-60 victory against the Bobcats. Back home in Conway, she played 37 minutes and scored 15 points with nine rebounds to help lead Coastal to its 73-65 win over the Buffaloes.
 
Brooks and the Chants return to conference play this week with a pair of road games. CCU travels to Georgia Southern on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. ET tip before rounding out the road trip at Marshall on Saturday at 1 p.m.
