Picone Earns Third Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week Accolade

NEW ORLEANS – Coastal Carolina softball pitcher Nicolette Picone has been named the Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season, the league announced Tuesday.
This marks the fifth time this season that a Chanticleer has earned Sun Belt weekly honors—the most in a single season since 2016, when Coastal had six Big South Player/Pitcher of the Week selections.
Picone is one of six Chanticleers to earn weekly honors three times in the same season. She joins Lauren Yates, Christine Doyle, Meagan Johnson, Brooke Donovan, and associate head coach Kiana Quolas in achieving this accolade.
Picone had another dominant week in the circle, going 4-0 while also recording one save. The senior registered 19 strikeouts and posted a 0.38 ERA, allowing just one run over 18.2 innings.
She pitched two complete games during the week, including a shutout against UNCG.
In Coastal's three-game series against South Dakota, Picone recorded 13 strikeouts and did not allow a single run over 12.2 innings.
The Chanticleers are set to face Charleston Southern tonight at 5 p.m. ET and No. 9 South Carolina on March 12 at 6 p.m.
