Softball Heads South to Face College of Charleston

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina softball team (28-8) will hit the road for a midweek matchup against the College of Charleston Cougars in Charleston, S.C., on April 1 at 5 p.m. ET.

LOOKING BACK

The Chanticleers improved to 28-8 on the season after winning their last Sun Belt Conference series against the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns last weekend.
The weekend marked the first time Coastal has ever won a series against Louisiana.
The Chanticleers hit six home runs over the three-game series, with Libby Pippin leading the team with a .556 batting average.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

The College of Charleston Cougars are 17-19 overall and 9-3 in conference play.
The Chanticleers will look to snap the Cougars' four-game win streak.
Last time out, College of Charleston swept a three-game series against Drexel, shutting out the Dragons in all three contests.
The Cougars have a team batting average of .258, while former Chant Jay Wrightsman leads the team with a .315 batting average.
CofC has recorded six home runs this season, while the Chanticleers have hit 58 over the same 36-game span.
College of Charleston's pitching staff features two primary starters: Mackenzie Mathis (5-11) with a 3.27 ERA and 70 strikeouts, and Ryley Kutter (4-4) with a 3.68 ERA and 19 strikeouts.

HISTORY AGAINST

CCU holds a 52-25 all-time record against College of Charleston.
This will be the 77th meeting between the two programs, with the first dating back to March 1993.
The Chanticleers have won the last seven matchups against the Cougars, including shutouts in the two most recent games last year.
Georgia Hood and Delaney Keith have each hit a home run against College of Charleston within the last two matchups, while Brie Normandin has recorded an RBI in her last two encounters with the Cougars.
