CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina softball team completed a three-game sweep with a 6-0 victory over South Dakota on Sunday afternoon at St. John Stadium.
The Chanticleers took an early lead in the bottom of the first inning when
Georgia Hood launched a solo home run onto the top of the batting cages to put Coastal ahead 1-0.
In the second inning,
Brie Normandin laced an RBI double to right-center field, extending the lead to 2-0.
After two scoreless innings,
Delaney Keith belted her 12th home run of the season over the center field wall, pushing the Chanticleers' advantage to 3-0.
Coastal tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the sixth. Normandin blooped a two-run single over the first baseman's head, and pinch runner
Ally Wojciechowski later scored on a passed ball to seal the 6-0 win.
Nicolette Picone (12-3) earned the victory in the circle, striking out six while not allowing a hit in six innings of work.
The Chanticleers hit the road next to face Charleston Southern on March 11 at 5 p.m. ET.
