CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina softball team is set to host Georgia State for a three-game Sun Belt Conference series from April 11–13 at St. John Stadium.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Chanticleers suffered a 1-0 loss to Campbell on Tuesday afternoon.
- Senior Nicolette Picone pitched her 16th complete game of the season, striking out eight batters. Despite her strong performance, Picone dropped to 17-5 after allowing just two hits, with the lone run being unearned.
- Four different Chanticleers recorded a hit in the game.
HISTORY AGAINST
- Coastal holds a 14-11 all-time record against the Panthers and will look to extend its four-game win streak.
- The two teams first met in April 1990, with the Chanticleers falling 4-2. Coastal is 11-3 at home against Georgia State and has won seven of the last 10 meetings, outscoring the Panthers 60-31 in that span.
- In their most recent matchup, the Chants defeated Georgia State 4-1 on Senior Night in April 2023.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- The Panthers enter the weekend with a 10-30 overall record and a 2-10 mark in Sun Belt play after being swept at home by James Madison on March 4–5.
- Georgia State was predicted to finish last in the Sun Belt preseason coaches poll.
- Maia Mumpfield leads the team with a .358 batting average, nine doubles, and 15 RBIs.
- Pitching has been a challenge for the Panthers this season, as they have surrendered 30 home runs and 229 total runs.
BARK IN THE PARK
- On Sunday, April 13, fans are invited to bring their furry friends for Bark in the Park.
- The Horry County Animal Care Center will be on site with adoptable dogs, and the Horry County K9 units and police officers will also be in attendance.
