CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina softball team is set to host its final home series of the season, welcoming the James Madison Dukes for a three-game Sun Belt Conference set April 25–27 at St. John Stadium.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Chanticleers are coming off a 2-1 series win over the Marshall Thundering Herd.
- Coastal grabbed an early series lead with a 4-3 win on Friday, thanks to a clutch two-run home run from Keirstin Roose.
- Marshall responded in game two, rallying to earn a 6-4 victory and even the series.
- The Chants secured the rubber match on Sunday, posting a 5-3 win behind RBIs from Roose, McKennah Metzger, Libby Pippin, and Georgia Hood.
SERIES HISTORY
- Coastal Carolina holds a 4-7 all-time record against James Madison.
- Six of the 11 meetings have gone to extra innings, with the series tied 3-3 in those contests.
- The Chanticleers are 2-5 at home versus the Dukes but will look to improve that mark this weekend.
- Last season, CCU claimed a 2-1 series victory in Harrisonburg, Va.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- The Dukes enter the series with a 21-23 overall record and a 7-11 mark in Sun Belt play, placing them 10th in the conference standings.
- Despite a recent 11-0 nonconference loss to Virginia on April 22, JMU has won its last three Sun Belt series against Georgia State, Louisiana, and Southern Miss.
- Offensively, Payton List leads the way with a .362 batting average, 47 hits, 31 runs scored, and 12 home runs. She's also a key contributor in the circle, posting a 9-6 record with a 2.91 ERA and 58 strikeouts.
