CLEMSON, S.C. — The Coastal Carolina softball team was blanked by the Clemson Tigers, 8-0, on Friday afternoon in Clemson, S.C.
With the loss, the Chants fall to 3-3 on the season.
The Tigers kicked off the scoring in the bottom of the first inning when Knowler hit a two-run home run over the left-center field wall.
Coastal remained in striking distance, holding the score at 2-0 while allowing just one hit over the next three innings.
Clemson's bats then exploded in the bottom of the fifth inning, bringing in six runs on a pair of singles, a groundout, a fielding error, and a triple to secure the 8-0 run-rule victory.
Abby Henderson dropped to 3-3 in the circle, allowing four runs on six hits over 4.0 innings of work.
The Chants are set to face Lipscomb tomorrow at 10 a.m. ET for their second game of the Clemson Classic.
