CONWAY, S.C. — The Coastal Carolina softball team will open Sun Belt Conference play with a three-game series against the Appalachian State Mountaineers from March 13–15.
 
Scouting the Opponent

• Appalachian State owns a 19-5 record on the season, which leads the Sun Belt.
• Mountaineers rank 17th in the nation with 1.58 home runs per game, while Makayla McClain is tied for ninth in the NCAA with 12 home runs this year.
• App State enters the series on a six-game winning streak after defeating Furman and Queens twice each, along with Charleston Southern and the College of Charleston.
• The Mountaineers rank 26th in the NCAA and lead the Sun Belt with 164 RBIs this season.
• App State's 7.75 runs per game rank 14th in the nation.
• Sophie Moshos and Camry Fisher own 9-2 and 10-3 records in the circle, respectively. Moshos leads the team with a 1.81 ERA, while Fisher leads the team with 70 strikeouts. 

History Against

• Coastal owns a 26-11 record against Appalachian State.
• Last time out, CCU suffered a 2-1 series loss but won the final game of the series, 9-6.
• The Chants hold a 17-6 record versus the Mountaineers at St. John Stadium.
