CONWAY, S.C. — The Coastal Carolina softball team shut out the Campbell Fighting Camels, 1-0, on Tuesday evening at St. John Stadium.
The Chants struck early in the bottom of the first inning when
Delaney Keith blasted her eighth home run of the season over the center field wall to give Coastal a 1-0 lead.
It was a pitching duel over the next six innings, as neither team allowed a run. The Chants recorded one 1-2-3 inning and turned a double play, while the Fighting Camels tallied two three-up, three-down frames and turned two double plays to keep the score at 1-0.
Kate Ryan closed out the game with another 1-2-3 inning to improve to 5-0 on the season, recording a career-high five strikeouts in a complete-game shutout.
