Men’s Soccer Ready for Home Opener Versus Stetson

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's soccer team ready for its home opener against the Stetson Hatters on Aug. 29 at 6 p.m. ET.

The Chanticleers are 0-1-1 on the season to date.
This will be the first of eight home matches scheduled at the CCU Soccer Complex.
Last time out, CCU fell to the Longwood Lancers, 4-2. Mateo Caride and Robert Valdimarsson each netted their first goals in Teal and Bronze in the outing.
Pearse O'Brien recorded two assists in the match, becoming the first Chant to record a multi-assist performance since Loed Klaasen tallied three assists against Georgia State in October 2025.
Goalkeeper Will Devine was selected as the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week and was named to the TopDrawerSoccer National Team of the Week after recording a shutout against No. 2 NC State, where he made four saves.
Caride leads the team with four shots, all of which have forced saves.

Scouting the Opponent

Stetson holds the same record as the Chants, going 0-1-1 in its opening two matches.
The Hatters fell to No. 15 SMU in their season opener before recording a 1-1 tie against UTRGV.
William Mills and Mauricio Restrepo lead the team with two points after each scored a goal, while Justin Blanco has one point to his name after recording an assist against SMU.
The Hatters have seen two goalkeepers see action on the year. Matthew McCall has logged 135 minutes with five saves, while Murillo Mello has 45 minutes of action.
Maurice Hauser tops the team with three shots on the year.
Senior forward Zsombor Pall and junior midfielder Benjamin Donato were named to the 2026 Preseason All-ASUN Team.

History Against

Coastal owns a 2-1 record against Stetson.
The Chants will look to capture their first home win against the Hatters.
The teams last met in September 2006, when Coastal took a 5-3 victory.
CCU holds a two-match winning streak and has outscored the Hatters, 9-6.
