CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's soccer team earned its first win of the season, shutting out the Stetson Hatters 2-0 in its home opener at the CCU Soccer Complex.

With the win, the Chants improve to 1-1-1 on the season.
Coastal took an early lead in the eighth minute when Pearse O'Brien whipped a free kick into the box and onto the head of Baxter Hurt, who netted his first goal of the season to make the score 1-0.
In the ninth minute, Patrick Kolano raced back to make a goal-line clearance to hold the score at 1-0.
Each team took six shots in the first half, with the Hatters holding a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Coastal doubled its lead in the 67th minute when Mateo Caride ripped a shot into the bottom-right corner to give the Chants a 2-0 advantage.
Head coach Adam Perron earned his first career win as a head coach.
The Chants will return to action on Sept. 5 to take on Gardner-Webb at the CCU Soccer Complex. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. ET.
