CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's soccer team suffered a 2-1 defeat to the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs on Saturday evening at the CCU soccer complex.

With the loss, Coastal falls to 1-2-1 on the season.
After a two-hour lightning delay, the Runnin' Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead in the 29^th minute when Tim Kreuzpeintner found the back of the net off an assist from Adrian Biaggi.
Gardner-Webb added to its lead in the 41^st minute when Bashir Mansur scored off an assist from Antony Alexis.
At the half, CCU trailed 8-6 in shots and 5-1in corner kicks.
The Chants threatened in the 50^th minute when Daniel Idiakhoa's shot was cleared off the goal line to hold the score at 2-0.
Joe Wilcock rattled the woodwork in the 60^th minute but couldn't put the Chants on the board.
In the 68^th minute Pearse O'Brien narrowed the gap off an assist from Idiakhoa to make the score 2-1.
At the final whistle, Coastal led 17-13 in shots and forced four saves.
Coastal will return to action on Sept. 9 to take on North Florida at 6 p.m. ET in Jacksonville, Fla.
