The Foundation of Success: Perron Emphasizes Culture at Coastal

CONWAY, S.C. – With a new season comes a new-look to the Coastal Carolina men's soccer team, but head coach Adam Perron believes the foundation of the program remains rooted in something bigger than what happens on the pitch.
With 20 new faces joining the Chanticleers this season, building chemistry and establishing a strong team culture is not without its challenges but Perron has been encouraged by how quickly the group has come together.
"From the moment guys get here, and even from recruiting conversations, we were very transparent in what we were trying to build here," Perron said.
At the center of that vision it is very simple, helping players reach their full potential.
"My purpose as a coach is just to help guys reach the best version of themselves," Perron said. "And of course, with the team, what's the best version of that team? That's what gets me up every morning."
That philosophy shapes the type of players Perron and his staff look to bring into the program. Talent is important, but character cannot be overlooked.
"The core of it is bringing in the right person, and the right type of young man is brought into this program," Perron said. "The players that have the right growth mindset and openness to care about someone aside from themselves will succeed here".
Once players arrive in Conway, the coaches emphasize what it means to represent Coastal, what it means to represent your community, and what it means to be a part of something bigger than themselves.
"I continuously speak to the guys about what representing CCU looks like to us, the identity of this area, the hardworking families that come out to support, the wins are not just for us, they're for everyone, seeing the joy a result can bring to this community is just so inspiring."
The team has also placed an emphasis on simply spending time together. Whether it is through team activities, community service or game day responsibilities, those shared experiences have given the players opportunities to build relationships.
"I do believe we have a group of guys that genuinely love being around one another," Perron said.
That togetherness was kickstarted by the team's leadership group. "Dan, Theo and Beto did a great job starting to foster that feeling of family, and love, and togetherness, and unity, during captain's practices in July and it definitely gave the group a great head start before we could all start working together".
With the 2026 season now well underway, the values Perron has emphasized from day one have become the foundation of the program. With a new-look team continuing to grow together, that foundation is something the Chants can build on throughout the season both as individuals and as a team.
