2014 (Jr.): Played in 12 games, serving as the backup to three-time Big South Defensive Player of the Year Quinn Backus ... Made one start (at Presbyterian) and was named the Big South Defensive Player of the Week that game ... Tallied a career-high 15 tackles - 12 being solo stops - including two for losses with a pass breakup ... The 15 stops ties for the fifth-best, single-game effort in school history ... Recorded eight of his 15 tackles in the first half as Coastal took a 13-7 lead at the break ... While the Blue Hose scored on their opening drive (eight plays for 63 yards), Shields led a defense that only allowed 83 yards on PC’s next seven possessions that ended with a turnover on downs, four punts, a fumble and the end of the first half ... Had five tackles versus South Carolina State ... Posted three stops, including a tackle for loss, iin the playoff win versus Richmond.

2013 (So.): Saw action versus South Carolina State and Hampton ... Credited with two tackles against Hampton ... Named a Chant Squad MVP for the week leading into the Charleston Southern contest.
