  • Title
    Women's Lacrosse Assistant Coach

Christina Sheridan recently completed her first season as an assistant coach for the Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse program.

Her main responsibilities during her first season on the Coastal Carolina staff included overseeing the defense, particularly the goalies, as well as handling the program's internal operations. Like the offense, the 2015 Chanticleer defense also saw vast improvements on their end of the field.

Under Sheridan's tutelage, the defense allowed nearly two fewer goals per game and ranked second in the league with a 9.77 goals against average. After holding opponents to single digits in only six games in the previous two seasons, the Chanticleers did so seven times during 2015.

Additionally, sophomore goalkeeper Jenna Stover rewrote the record books for Chanticleer backstops as she set single-season records in goals against average (10.19), saves (135), save percentage (.452) and wins (11), among other participation categories. Stover's goals against average and save percentage were good for third in the conference, while her total saves and saves per game (7.94) ranked 32nd in the country.

Sheridan came to Coastal Carolina as a 2014 graduate of BU where she was a four-year letter winner for the Terrier women's lacrosse team. Over her career Sheridan amassed 25 wins, and her 410 career saves place her fourth all-time in BU women's lacrosse history.

As a senior captain, Sheridan overcame injury early in the season to backstop the Terriers to the Patriot League championship game. At the end of the 2014 season Sheridan was selected to play in the IWLCA North-South All-Star game. In 2012, Sheridan was named to the America East Academic Honor Roll, and in 2011 earned a spot on the America East All-Rookie team after posting career-bests in save percentage (.420) and goals against average (9.74).

Sheridan graduated from Boston University in May, 2014 with a bachelor of science in hospitality administration.

During her time at BU, Sheridan gained coaching experience while working with various club teams, camps and clinics. For two years Sheridan coached the Rebels Lacrosse club team in Olney, Md., where she helped develop players' skills to prepare them for intercollegiate competition. She also spent several years working at both Between the Pipes and Around the Crease lacrosse camps where she taught youth and high school players the fundamentals and new techniques of goaltending and defense.
