CCU Cross Country Wins Coastal Carolina Invitational

CHARLESTON, SC — The Coastal Carolina men's cross country team won as a team and also claimed the individual title in the CCU Invitational, held Saturday September 13 at Robber's Roost Golf Course in North Myrtle Beach.
The Chants, who were picked to finish first in the Big South for the third consecutive season, earned 39 points to finish nine points ahead of second-place UNC Asheville. Radford finished third with 53 points.
Terah Kipchiris was impressive on the course, finishing the five-mile route in 24:56, a full 28 seconds ahead of second-place Goran Nava of Radford. Nelson Oliveira followed Nava, clocking a time of 25:47. UNCA's Root Kirrach was fourth, and Radford's Michael Meehan rounded out the top five overall. Johnny Mitchell finished third for Coastal with a time of 26:53.
Next up the Chants travel to the Great American Cross Country Festival in Raleigh, N.C., Friday September 26 at 5 p.m.
