Box Score Volleyball Wins In Four Games More Information:
WILMINGTON, N.C. - Coastal Carolina's volleyball team defeated UNC Wilmington in four games Tuesday. Game scores were 30-23, 30-23, 27-30, and 30-19. The Lady Chanticleers are now 6-6; UNC Wilmington falls to 3-7. UNC Wilmington originally led the CCU and Wilmington series 19-16, but after a four game fight for victory, CCU came out on top.
Katherine Jensen-Spencer (Vancouver, B.C./Sentinel Secondary/Mississippi) recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 21 kills and 15 digs. Jensen-Spencer also added one ace to the Lady Chants seven of the night.
Jennifer Hampton (Lake Forest, Calif./El Toro) added 57 assists for CCU giving her a total of 473 set assists for the season.
The Lady Chanticleers out-hit the Seahawks of UNC Wilmington in the first two games, then were defeated the third game to force a fourth game. Kristin Maier led the Seahawks with 11 kills; Kate Bennett led UNC Wilmington in digs with 19 in their effort and Felicity Ribalkin added 13 digs to UNC Wilmington's effort.
CCU had a total of 9 team blocks while UNC Wilmington tallied 7.
Laura Obert (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) added four blocks to the Lady Chanticleers effort. The Lady Chants also out-hit the Seahawks with a total hitting percentage of .212, while UNC Wilmington’s percentage was .085.
Coastal will now travel to Birmingham Southern Friday for a 7:00 p.m. game. This will be the second Big South Conference contest of the season for CCU.
