Feb. 17, 2015 CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Coastal Carolina senior midfielder Lily Yednock has been named the Big South Defensive Player of the Week for her performance in Saturday's 15-4 win at Stetson, the league announced today.
The Columbus, Ohio, native turned in an impressive performance in the Chanticleers' season opener as she led the team with four caused turnovers, tying a career high previously recorded five other times, to go along with three ground balls and three draw controls. Yednock's performance on Saturday only added to her career records of 66 ground balls and 49 caused turnovers. Additionally, she contributed on the offensive end of the field with a team-high two assists to go along with two goals.
Yednock has received postseason recognition in each of the past two seasons as she was named second team All-Big South in 2013 and honorable mention All-Big South in 2014. She was also named the 2013 Big South Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
This marks the first such award for Yednock in her career and the first weekly honor for a Chanticleer this season.
The Chants return to action on Sunday as they host the Virginia Tech Hokies in the 2015 home opener. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the CCU Soccer Stadium.
