March 10, 2015 CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Coastal Carolina freshman midfielder Taylor Pascale has been named by the Big South Conference as The Crons Brand Freshman of the Week for her performance in Sunday's 19-1 victory against Delaware State, the league announced this afternoon.
The Ashburn, Va., native made the most of her collegiate debut as she recorded a hat trick in the Chants' blowout victory of the Hornets. Her three goals were not only the most scored by a Chanticleer freshman this season, but also marked the first freshman hat trick since Alicia Geiter netted three goals in the Big South Quarterfinals at Winthrop on April 30, 2014.
Pascale also came off the bench and recorded a game-high three draw controls to go along with three ground balls and one caused turnover.
This marks the first such award for Pascale in her career and the second weekly honor for a Chanticleer this season. Senior midfielder Lily Yednock was previously named the Big South Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts in the Chants' season opener at Stetson.
Coastal Carolina returns to action on Sunday, March 15 as they host the Cincinnati Bearcats at the CCU Soccer Stadium at noon. The Chants and Bearcats have met twice before with Cincinnati holding a 2-0 advantage.
