April 30, 2015 ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse team is set to take on the Liberty Flames in its first ever Big South Lacrosse Championship semifinal game on Friday at 7 p.m. at Winthrop's Eagle Field.
The Chanticleers (11-5, 5-2), winners of 10 of their last 12 games, are coming off a thrilling 15-11 overtime victory against the No. 6 seed Campbell Fighting Camels in last Friday's quarterfinal matchup.
The Flames (8-10, 5-2), on the other hand, advanced by defeating the No. 7 seed Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs by a final score of 21-4.
Coastal Carolina is 1-2 all-time against Liberty, including an 18-8 loss in Lynchburg, Va., on April 6 of this season. Since the defeat to the Flames, the Chanticleers have won five of six games, including four in a row, and are averaging 14.2 goals per game.
The winner will advance to play either the No. 1 seed and host Winthrop Eagles or the No. 4 seed and two-time defending champion High Point Panthers in Sunday's championship game scheduled for 1 p.m.
