TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Coastal Carolina volleyball team suffered its first loss of the season on Friday, falling in three sets to #19 Florida State in the Chanticleers' first match of the A Loft Seminole Invitational.

The loss drops the Chants to 4-1 overall on the season. Coastal had previously achieved the team's first 4-0 start to a season since 1996.

Florida State took an early 8-3 lead in the opening frame, eventually winning the set by a 25-15 margin. The Seminoles were led in the set by the four kills of Milicia Kubura, who co-led the match with nine total kills on 11 attempts for a .818 hitting percentage.

Florida State's Melanie Keil also finished with nine kills on 11 attempts to match Kubura's hitting percentage. Leah Hardeman tied the Seminole pair with nine kills of her own, marking the first time in the past 13 matches -- dating back to Oct. 25, 2014 -- that the Chanticleer outside hitter has not had double figure kills.

Natasa Savovic and Lian Bernett each tallied five kills for the Chants, while Aleksandra Djuric led Coastal with 13 assists. Dora Lulic notched a solo block, Coastal's only one of the match.

Coastal remained within a point of Florida State in early portion of the second set until an errant Coastal serve -- one of four in the set -- sparked an 8-3 Seminole run. Florida State held its lead and closed the second game 25-16.

Florida State clinched the match with a 25-10 third set. Coastal was limited to seven kills and a .000 hitting percentage.

The Chanticleers resume play in the A Loft Seminole Invitational on Saturday as they take on Big East member Xavier. The tournament concludes on Sunday with a final match against Florida A&M.
