Volleyball Closes Regular Season at Troy; Nemeth Sets Coastal Record

Box Score TROY, Ala. – The Coastal Carolina volleyball team closed the 2018 regular season with a five-set loss (22-25, 25-15, 21-25, 25-17, 10-15) at Troy on Saturday night. Anett Nemeth set a Coastal Carolina record with 13 blocks, and recorded her fourth triple-double of the season as the freshman added 15 kills and 24 assists. All three totals led the Chants.

The program's previous individual record for blocks in a match was 10, set by Katie Martin in 2014.

Coastal (12-12, 11-5 SBC) finishes the regular season in second place in the Sun Belt East Division, and will be the third seed in the 2018 Sun Belt Championship behind No. 1 Texas State (24-6, 15-1 SBC) and No. 2 Appalachian State (20-7, 12-3). The conference tournament runs from Nov. 15-18, and will be held in Atlanta, Ga.

Coastal finished with 17 blocks as a team, setting a season high for the Chants in the category. Dora Lulic and Christina Nance had career highs of nine and six blocks, respectively.

Reka Orsi Toth also had a career night, landing 14 kills and completing the double-double with 14 digs. The freshman hit at a .333 clip.

The Chants held a 17-14 lead in the first set, but Troy went on a 6-2 run to take a one-point lead. Coastal managed to tie the set on three occasions, but the Trojans won three straight points to finish the frame and take the first lead of the match.

Coastal responded by winning the first four points of the second set, and later used a pair of 5-0 runs to take a commanding 17-8 lead. The Chants kept their foot on the pedal to finish out the set, winning six of the final eight points.

After falling in the third set, Coastal responded in the fourth much the same as it did in the second. The Chants wasted little time jumping on Troy to tune of 14-4, and from there cruised to 25-17 set win to take the match to a fifth and deciding set.

The fifth set was tied 10-10 before Troy won five straight points to finish off the match. The final run started with a Coastal serving error, and Troy's Cheyenne Hayes helped end it with a pair of kills.
