Nemeth Picks Up AVCA South All-Region Honors

LEXINGTON, KY. - Coastal Carolina women's volleyball player, Anett Nemeth, was named to her first career American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Southeast Region Team, as announced by the AVCA on Tuesday morning.
Nemeth is one of 14 student-athletes from the region to receive the honor. The Southeast Region includes such schools as Tennessee, Florida, South Carolina, Missouri, and Kentucky.
The all-region selection is the latest of several individual accolades the Pecel, Hungary native acheived during the 2019 season.
In mid-November, the Coastal opposite hitter capped off the 2019 regular-season campaign as she was named the Sun Belt Player of the Year, the Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year, and First Team All-Sun Belt.
Offensively, Nemeth reached the 30-kill mark four times, including breaking the school record with 33 on Nov. 2 versus Troy. Nemeth ranks first in the Sun Belt Conference averaging 4.90 kills per set (515), 5.70 points per set, and second with a .352 hitting percentage in all matches. Nationally, the CCU' pin hitter ranks first in hitting percentage at her position, eighth overall in kills per set, and seventh overall in points per set.
The 2019 Sun Belt Player of the Year ended the season at the top of the Chanticleers' all-time single-season record list in several offensive categories. Since the conversion to the 25-point scoring format in 2008, Nemeth's 2019 season ranks her first in kills (515), first in kills per set (4.90), second in points (598.5), second in points per set (5.70), and third in hitting percentage (.351).
The award marks the fifth time in school history that a Chanticleer player has earned the prestigious honor. Leah Hardeman won three straight from 2015-17, and Annayka Legos also picked up all-region status in 2016.
