CHARLESTON, S.C. – Coastal Carolina beach volleyball posted a pair of wins on Sunday with a 4-1 win over Saint Leo and a 5-0 sweep of Mercer on day two of the CofC Beach Bash hosted by the College of Charleston.

With the Sunday twin bill sweep, the Chants are now 10-2 on the season.

Match 1: Coastal Carolina 4, Saint Leo 1

Coastal Carolina posted straight-set wins at the top four flights to defeat Saint Leo 4-1 in the first match of the day on Sunday.

The team of Kyla Manning and Carli Ginther got the match started with a 21-15, 21-15 win over Kristen Kaiser and Phoebe Hammond of SLU at the No. 4 position.

After Saint Leo tied the match up at 1-1 with a three-set win at the No. 5 spot, the Chanticleers swept the remaining three matches in straight sets.

CCU's duo of Martine Kragholm and Lucy Campbell downed SLU's team of Madi Certain and Michelle Cuervo 21-16, 21-10 at the No. 3 flight, while the freshmen tandem of Irena Drobnjak and Sarlota Svobodova posted a 21-15, 21-13 victory at No. 2 over Anna Garrett and Payton Bellano.

To cap off the win, the pair of Sydney Alvis and Viktoria Fink dropped SLU's top-flight team of Arlaina Stephenson and Nina Vattovas in straight sets 21-11 and 21-19.

Match 2: Coastal Carolina 5, Mercer 0

The Chants capped the weekend event with a 5-0 sweep of the Mercer Bears on Sunday afternoon.

In the win, Coastal cruised to four straight-set wins highlighted by a huge 21-8, 21-7 victory at No. 5 by freshmen Madison Allred and Kaitlyn Holbrook to open the match.

The tandem of Manning and Ginther followed with a three-set win at No. 4 over Kylie Keeling and Maddie Nunley, bouncing back from a 21-15 first-set loss to take the second set 21-18 and the third 15-9 to earn their second win of the day.

CCU's teams of Campbell and Kragholm and Drobnjak and Svobodova both won by identical scores of 21-15, 21-18 at the No. 3 and No. 2 courts, respectively, to seal the win for the Chants.

Again, the two graduates in Alvis and Fink capped off the win with a 21-17, 21-19 victory at the No. 1 flight, this time sealing the shutout win.

CCU (10-2) will next be in action at home next weekend, March 13-14, as the Chants host the Coastal Carolina Invitational at the CCU Beach Volleyball Complex.
