LOOKIN' BACK
  • On Tuesday, Coastal swept the two-game series at the College of Charleston by scoring 28 runs. The Chants scored 14 runs in both halves of the doubleheader, their highest scoring output this season and the most runs they scored since February 14, 2020, against Northern Illinois.
  • Freshman Riley Zana had a breakout game in the 14-3 game one win as she had a single and double with a career-high five RBI. Senior Ally Clegg picked up a career-high three walks in the win. As a team, the Chanticleers forced 12 Cougar walks in the five-inning win, the highest number accumulated since April 6, 2014, against Liberty.
  • Junior catcher Mackenzie Beyer broke open the 14-2 CCU win in game two with a fourth-inning grand slam, her second of the season, and her eighth home run of the year.
  • Five Chanticleers had at least two hits in the game-two victory, including Thomas and Montoya's team-high three. Beyer, Stavi Augur, and Paige Rivas added a pair of hits in the victory.

  • Beyer's walk-off homer versus Georgia Southern on April 9 was the first Chant come-from-behind victory of the season when trailing after four innings and the first since April 28, 2018, when then-senior Timi Tooley hit a walk-off versus South Alabama.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
  • Georgia State is 13-21 overall and is in last place with a 1-12 in conference record.  The Panthers have lost 13 of the last 14 games, including Wednesday's 4-1 loss at home against Auburn.
  • GSU's last win occurred last Saturday in game one of a doubleheader versus UT Arlington as Sophie Mooney went the distance, struck out nine, and allowed just two hits. Mooney had a no-hitter going through 5.2 innings before UTA finally broke into the hit column.

HISTORY AGAINST
  • The series dates back to 2017, Coastal's first year in the Sun Belt Conference.
  • The longest win streak of any team is four, held by Georgia Southern from 2017 to 2018. The Chants won the last three games in their last faceoff in 2019.
  • GSU holds the all-time series advantage, 5-6, but Coastal swept the season series in 2019 behind Abbey Montoya's 3-for-9 series, where the then-freshman had two home runs, two runs scored, and three RBI.
  • Kaitlin Beasley-Polko added two complete-game victories in the sweep in 2019. Beasley-Polko pitched 14 innings, 14 strikeouts, and allowed just five hits in the series.
