
Chants Advance in Singles Action at ITA Carolina Regionals

Coastal will have five Chants play in singles action again on Sunday
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team did not have a single loss on Saturday at the 2022 ITA Carolina Regional Championships, as five Chanticleers combined to go 8-0 overall and took advantage of two byes to all move on to day four of the regional event on Sunday in Winston-Salem, N.C.
The Chants' Megan Hopton, Jesse Hollins, and Kata Foldeak all won two singles bouts on day three, while Victoire De Samucewicz and Anna Babayan each picked up one victory overall.
In the B1 Main Singles Draw, both Hopton and Hollins won in the round of 16 and in the quarterfinals to advance to the semifinals on Sunday. Hopton won 6-1, 6-1 in the round of 16 over Emma Sorensen of Wofford and 6-3, 7-5 over Savanna Kollock of Davidson in the quarterfinals. Hollins scored a 6-3, 6-0 win in straight sets over Alexandra Dodashev Enbert of UNCG in the round of 16 and then cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Chloe Elliott of Wofford in the quarters.
In the A1 Singles Consolation Bracket, De Samucewicz moved up to the quarterfinals with a bye in the round of 16 and went on to defeat Daniella Medvedeva of Clemson, who had to withdraw due to an injury.
Babayan stayed alive in the A2 Singles Consolation Bracket, as he defeated Lily Woods of Wofford in straight sets at 6-3, 6-2 to move on to the consolation semifinals.
In the B2 Singles Consolation Bracket, Foldeak beat Tiffany Pyritz of Charleston Southern 6-3, 6-1 in the quarterfinals-q round and then advanced to the semifinals with a bye in the quarterfinals round. In the semifinals, the transfer upended Luna Urso of UNCG 6-4, 6-4, to claim a spot in the consolation finals on Sunday.
The Chanticleers will continue singles action at the ITA Carolina Regional Championships tomorrow.
