Coastal Carolina to Host the Monarchs this Weekend

Volleyball looks to remain unbeaten in conference action

 
CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina volleyball team will return to the HTC Center for a Sun Belt Conference matchup with the Old Dominion Monarchs on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 13-14, at 6 p.m. and 1 p.m. ET, respectively, in Conway, S.C. on ESPN+.
 
HISTORY BETWEEN COASTAL & ODU
The all-time series between the Chanticleers and Monarchs is even at 1-1.
 
ABOUT COASTAL
The Chanticleers enter the match with a 11-7 overall and 6-0 Sun Belt record after picking up a pair of road wins in Statesboro, Ga., against the Georgia Southern Eagles. Coastal will put its six-match win streak on the line this weekend.
 
Coastal is led by outside hitter Jasmine Rivest, who has 264 kills on the season and 307 points for a 5.29 points per set average. Rivest, a redshirt senior, is joined by freshman Jalyn Stout, who has 186 kills for 203.5 points. Stout also has 212 assists and 161 digs. Agata Lesiak and Lauren Malone have helped out the offense with 116 and 11 spikes, respectively. Cagla Bengi is the top assists leader for Coastal with 495.
 
On the defensive side, freshman libero Sydney Lewis helps the offense get set up with 234 digs. Dilara Unal and Valentina Varani protect the front line with 64 and 61 blocks, respectively, while Lesiak (34) and Rivest (28) have double digit blocks on the year.
 
ABOUT ODU
The Monarchs enter the week with a 9-11 overall and 1-5 SBC record after dropping a pair of conference matches to James Madison last weekend.
 
Myah Conway leads the ODU offensive attack with 280 kills while Alice Munari (155) and Bryanna Jones (122) have added double digit spikes. The Monarchs' offense is aided by Teresa Atilano who has 691 of the team's 855 assists on the season.
 
Old Dominion's defense is led by Adrienne Peji (75), Conway (62), and LeeAnne Lowery (50) as the only Monarchs with 50 or more blocks, while Atilano has stopped 39 kill attempts. Kate Kilpatrick has 234 digs to lead ODU while Atilano and Munari have added 171 and 124 digs, respectively.
