Women's Golf Stands Third After Two Rounds at The Southern

Chants have two players among the top 10 scorers after 36 holes

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Coastal Carolina University women's golf team sits in third place at The Southern at 22-over 598 (296-302) after the first two rounds at the Savannah Golf Club in Savannah, Ga., on Monday.

Varatkarn Kunkaew leads the Chanticleers in scoring after two rounds with a two-over 146 (69-77). She enters Tuesday's final round tied for fourth, while fellow first-year Chant, Hannah Karg, is just two shots back with a four-over 148 (72-76). She joins Kunkaew among the top 10 golfers with a tie for seventh-place heading into the final round.

Sara Sarrion (76-76) and Luisa Gibson (79-73) finished Monday's round tied for 24th after each carded an eight-over 152.

Isabella Spinazze is tied for 54th with a 17-over 161 (81-80), and Carolina Hortian is tied for 62nd with a 27-over 171 (85-86).

Host Georgia Southern leads the event with a 15-over 591 (299-292), just three strokes in front of Western Kentucky's 18-over 294 (304-290), while CCU is third with its 22-over 598 (296-302). Campbell (+27, 603) is fourth and Augusta (312-294) and Xavier (310-296) are tied for fifth with a 30-over 606.

The rest of the field includes Missouri (+32, 608), Charleston Southern (+34, 610), Jacksonville State (+43, 619), Sacred Heart (+48, 624) and FAU (+48, 624).

Tuesday's final round is scheduled to begin Sunday at 8:30 a.m. ET.
