CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University men's and women's outdoor track & field teams will return to competition this Saturday, April 22, at the one-day USC Outdoor Open meet hosted by the University of South Carolina in Columbia, S.C.
The teams competing this week at the one-day outdoor meet include Alabama State, Benedict College, Bethune-Cookman, Campbell, Centre College, Charlotte, The Citadel, Clemson, Coastal Carolina, Coker College, College of Charleston, Converse College, Davison, Denmark Tech, East Carolina, East Tennessee State, Edward Waters, Furman, Gardner-Webb, Georgia College, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Iona College, Johnson C. Smith, Limestone University, Mercer, Monroe College, Mount Olive, Mount St. Mary's Newberry College, North Carolina, North Greenville, Paine College, Quinnipiac, Richard Bland, Rowan University, Savannah State, South Carolina, Southern Wesleyan, Spartanburg Methodist, UNC Pembroke, UNC Wilmington, USC Upstate, West Georgia, Winthrop, and Wofford.
Women's Team
Coastal's women's team will send 22 student-athletes to compete across 13 events for the one-day meet.
Representing the Chanticleers in the hurdles events will be
Sydney Clemens (100-meter hurdles),
Amanda Kinloch (100-meter hurdles), and
Alyssa Smith (400-meter hurdles), while Kinloch (200-meters) will join fellow Chants
Amelia Canetto (100 and 200-meters),
Alexis Glasco (100 and 200-meters),
Camryn Lorick (100-meters),
Kayla Sweeney (200-meters), and
Brianna Tillman (200-meters) in the sprint events.
Fellow runners
Amelia Wise Sweat (400 and 800-meters) and
Lauren Gordon (400-meters) will compete in the middle-distance events, while
Taylor Houston (1500-meters) will compete in the lone distance event for the Chants on Saturday.
In addition to the track student-athletes, the Women in Teal will also have 11 different Chants compete in the field events.
Coastal's
Lauralyn Clifford and
Zayna Fray-Samuel will both compete in the hammer event, while two Chants in
Kynnedy Dennis and
Olivia Lee will take part in the pole vault.
Lorick and
Kadasia Evans will participate in the high jump event, while teammates
Keiran Martin (long jump),
Mia Lewis (long and triple jump),
Kirsten Maybach (long and triple jump),
Claire Spiller (long and triple jump),
Destiny St. Cyr (long and triple jump), and
Naturee Thomas (long and triple jump) are set to compete in the jump events.
Men's Team
The men's team will send 25 student-athletes to compete across 15 events on Saturday.
Headlining the group are hurdlers
Braydon Bennett (110-meter hurdles),
Jaquon Williams (110-meter hurdles, 200-meters), and
Albrey Gossett (110-meter hurdles and 200-meters), as well as sprinters
Reggie Barlow (100 and 200-meters),
Ashlund Dixon (100-meters),
Tyler Graves (100-meters),
Deondre Hardy (100-meters),
DeShon Harris (100 and 200-meters),
Jaavier Jackson (200-meters),
Robert Johnson (200-meters),
Brendan Kovar (200-meters), and
Garrett Wilkins (100 and 200-meters).
Also running on Saturday will be
DeVonte Harris,
Adrian Nwakalor,
Christopher Kennedy-Vance, and
Isaiah Thomas in the 400-meters, Thomas,
Jack Benoit,
Trey Kraimer, and
Hunter White in the 800-meters, and
George Werner Jr. in the 1500-meters.
Competing in the long jump event will be Hardy, while participating across the throws events are
Major Chestnut (discus),
Aaron Keeler (javelin),
Killian Oberheu (hammer),
Michael Martello (shot put and hammer), and
Chance Tressler (shot put and discus).
Gates will open at 7 a.m. ET and the first event of the day will begin at 9 a.m. ET.
