Sarrion shoots a 68 in Sunday's final round

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University women's golf team finished eighth at the Lady Paladin Invitational at 22-over 886 (297-297-292) after shooting a four-over 292 in Sunday's final round at the Furman University Golf Club in Greenville, S.C.

Junior Sara Sarrion had the best round of the tournament for the Chanticleers shooting a four-under 68 (32-36). Sarrion started her round with a bogey-five on the par-four 10th hole, and that would be her lone mark of the day. She proceeded to score five birdies over the final 17 holes to go with 12 pars. She finished the tournament tied for 17th with a two-over 218 (75-75-68).

Hannah Karg finished her first tournament as a Chanticleer tied with Sarrion for 17th with a two-over 218 (72-74-72). She had 16 pars in Sunday's final round to go with one bogey and one birdie.

Varatkarn Kunkaew tied for 43rd after completing her first tournament as a Chanticleer with an eight-over 224 (74-73-77), while Luisa Gibson finished tied for 54th with a 10-over 226 (76-75-75).

Isabella Galla finished tied for 72nd with a 14-over 230 (76-77-77), and Isabella Spinazze finished her play as an individual tied for 61st with an 11-over 227 (78-74-75).

Host Furman (285-290-284) and Augusta (287-290-282) finished tied for the championship with a five-under 859. Western Kentucky joined Furman and Augusta as the only three teams to finish under-par with a two-under 862 (285-292-285). North Florida finished fourth with a six-over 870 (290-288-292), and James Madison finished fifth with an 11-over 875 (290-293-292).

Nevada finished sixth (+12, 876), while seventh-place East Carolina was only two shots in front of CCU with a 20-over 884 (298-300-286). Georgia State (+24, 888) finished two strokes back of CCU in ninth, while UNCW (+27, 891) completed the top-10.

The rest of the field included Memphis (+28, 892), Xavier (+29, 893), Charlotte (+29, 893), Old Dominion (+30, 894), Tulane (+32, 896), and Daytona State College (+47, 911).

The Chanticleers will be back on the course on Oct. 6-8 at the Evie Odom Invitational at the Princess Anne Country Club in Virginia Beach, Va.
