CONWAY, S.C. – After a thrilling midweek win over Binghamton, the Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse team heads back out on the road to face the Mercer Bears on Saturday at Five Star Stadium.
History vs. Mercer
Coastal is 6-1 in seven previous meetings with Mercer, most recently in a 13-11 defeat in 2021. Prior to that loss, the Chants won six consecutive games over the Bears, including a 17-5 win at Brooks Stadium in 2019.

The Chants are coming off the 12-11 overtime win in their midweek matchup against Binghamton, a game that brought their overall record to an even 3-3. In her second straight game, senior Maddie Bates once again produced a timely goal, this time sending the game to overtime with her eighth goal of the season with just under seven minutes to play in regulation. Senior Sydney McClure later scored the winner inside of two minutes in the opening period of overtime, giving the Chants the crucial victory on their home turf.
McClure has continued to be Coastal most consistent performer this season, contributing on 23 goals for the Chants, scoring 15 and assisting on eight through six games. Monica Manley and Abi George follow with nine goals each, with Manley also adding six assists.
Defensively, goalkeeper Charlotte Sadler has picked up a team-high 16 ground balls to go with 55 saves in six appearances. Senior midfielder Sydney Tornetta is second on the team with 12 ground balls, along with eight caused turnovers and eight draw controls. Draw control specialist Devin Rybacki has a team-high 32, averaging over five draw controls per game which ranks 43rd in Division 1.
In the eighth edition of CCU vs. Mercer, the Chants will look to extend their winning streak to three prior to returning home on Mar. 14 to face the Manhattan Jaspers.
About Mercer
Mercer also enters the weekend an even .500, 2-2 on the season, winning two of their last three. The Bears opened the season with a 21-8 loss at home against Virginia Tech, but followed that performance with wins over Davidson and Kennesaw State on the road. Their most recent outing was a 22-10 loss to No. 20 Clemson on Tuesday in Macon.
