Hooper Price Named Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year

NEW ORLEANS, LA. - Coastal Carolina senior Genson Hooper Price has been tabbed as this season's Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year for the 2024 outdoor season, per the release from the conference office this afternoon.Â
In just his first year of competition in track and field, Hooper Price won a gold medal and his first-ever Sun Belt Conference title in the men's 400m finals with a time of 46.09. He set another personal-best in the 200m finals at the Sun Belt Championships with a time of 21.13.Â
His other two personal-best performances this season came in the long jump competition at the East Coast Relays with a 6.47m distance and at the USC Open with a 10.89 final time in the 100m hurdles.Â
Next up for the Chants is the NCAA East Regional in Lexington, Ky, starting on Wednesday, May 22 and ending on Saturday, May 25.Â
