Cross Country Begins Season at Elon Opener

ELON, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina University men and women's cross country team will begin their season with the Elon Opener in Elon, N.C. on Friday. The women will run the 4k at 8:15 ET and the men will run the 6k at 8:45 ET.

Men's Notes

Adam Groves returns to the squad for his junior season after qualifying for the NCAA Regionals last year in cross country. The Waynesboro, Virginia native is coming off a strong outdoor track & field season, earning the bronze medal in the 5000 meters at the Sun Belt Outdoor Championship.
Sophomore Dylan Payer looks to build on a strong first season with the Chants after making an appearance in the NCAA Southeast Regional. The Yankton, South Dakota native recorded a highest finish of fifth at the Chanticleer Challenge last season.
Junior Sterling Sellier made an NCAA Regional appearance in his freshman year and returns for his third cross country season.

Women's Notes

Addison Laughlin begins her third season with Coastal Cross Country after recording multiple top-10 times in school history in the outdoor season. Laughlin qualified for the regional last season in cross country and finished 14th overall in the Sun Belt Conference Cross Country Championships.
Three other athletes return to the squad after making regional appearances last season (Olivia Goeser, Jenna Lang, Erin McQuitty).
