Freshman (2019): Played in two games with one at-bat against Bryant on March 12.

Chopticon: Kuhnow played in 74 games in the four years at Chopticon High School where she hit .336, with 14 doubles, 7 triples in 223 at-bats.  In her sophomore season, Kuhnow’s Chopticon team won the 3A South Region championship and made it to the state finals.  In 2018, Kuhnow led her team to the 3A South Region Section II final but fell to Huntington Hurricanes, 5-0.  The Maryland native also excelled in basketball, track and field, and field hockey. In 2017, Kuhnow was part of the 4x800 relay team that took home third place in the Southern Maryland Athletic Conference.  

Away from Chopticon, Kuhnow played three seasons with the La Plata Orioles and in 2015, the O’s team made it to the College World Series

Academically, Makayla earned Minds in Motion three times (freshman-junior). This is given to student-athletes who achieve a 3.25 GPA, or higher. In her senior year, Kuhnow received the honor as scholar-athlete.
