Nadeel Wildschutt To Race At 2019 NCAA Cross Country Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. - On Saturday, Chanticleer cross country runner Nadeel Wildschutt was selected by the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Committee to compete at the 2019 NCAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 22 at Indiana State University.
Nadeel was one of the 38 runners selected to participate in the championship race through an automatic qualifier and at-large selection process. All individual qualifiers finished in the top 25 in their regions. Â
Wildschutt finished seventh overall (29:51.20) on Friday, Nov. 15 at the 2019 NCAA Southeast Cross Country Championship, but did not receive an automatic bid. The Chanticleer harrier had to wait out Saturday's selection show to confirm his at-large status for the event but did become the fifth CCU men's runner in history to receive a selection to compete in the NCAA's biggest event.
Along with Coastal Hall of Famer Terah Kipichris in 2002 and 2003, Wildschutt is the second Chanticleer in school history to make the year's final race two times in their respective careers.
The Ceres, Africa native junior placed 28th overall (29:52.00) in 2017 to become the first Chanticleer male to earn All-American honors.
He will join his brother Adriaan Wildschutt who received an automatic berth with a fifth-place finish on Friday at the Southeast Regional in Charlottesville, Va.
