Prolic was named the Best Receiver at the Serbian Junior National Championship in both 2017 and 2018. She comes from a very athletic family as her father was a professional handball player, her mother was a basketball player and her brother currently plays water polo.

"Jelena comes to Coastal from a volleyball hotbed in Subotica, Serbia.  She is from a very supportive family that is relishing the fact that Jelena is coming to live out her American dream by studying and playing volleyball at Coastal Carolina University.  It takes a strong, never-give-up personality to move halfway around the world at her age and Jelena's resilience will make her a champion. With her six-rotation skill set, Jelena gives us many different offensive and defensive options at both pins."
