Cross Country to Compete in Queen City Invite

Coastal Carolina cross country to host the Chanticleer Challenge on Oct. 1
CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Charlotte, N.C. to compete in the Queen City Invite hosted by Queens University of Charlotte on Friday, Sept. 24. The meet will take place at the McAlpine Creek Park for a 4:30 p.m. ET start time.
The women will compete in the 5k event while the men will run in an 8k event.
On the women's side, the Chants' Isabelle Gulick will make her CCU debut, as Amelia Wise-Sweat, Ashley Dalleske, Mia Sheldon, Jessica Martin, Ashley Rulison, and Molly Jones will compete in their second meet of the 2021 season at the 5k event.
Jones paced the women's team to a seventh-place finish with her 12th-place finish at the Covered Bridge Open in the season opener on Sept. 3. Rulison placed 41st while Wise-Sweat, Dalleske, Martin, and Sheldon finished the 5k women's event in 58th, 78th, 89th, and 114th, respectively.
The Chanticleers will send out junior Monroe Thompkins along with freshmen Jack Benoit, Garrett Bivens, Kaden Buchler, Tomas Duncan, Cory Fleeman, Gage Nielsen, and Michael Welsh Jr. Buchler, Duncan, Fleeman, Nielsen, and Welsh Jr. will all be making their CCU debut.
Bivens placed 57th in the men's 8k event at the Covered Bridge Open while Thompkins and Benoit finished in 85th and 129th, respectively, for Coastal Carolina.
