NEW ORLEANS, LA. – Coastal Carolina outside hitter
Jasmine Rivest was named the Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the league on Tuesday. It is the second conference weekly honor for the redshirt senior.
For the weekend, Rivest tallied 38 kills and a .341 hitting percentage while averaging a double-double with 26 digs. She led the league with 4.75 kills and finished third with 5.44 points per set to help the Chants remain undefeated in Sun Belt action on the season with 3-0 and 3-2 wins over James Madison.
In the opening match, Rivest finished with a match-high 17 kills and 18 points to push the Chanticleers into sole possession of first place in the East Division.
The Montreal, Quebec, native followed that performance with 21 kills and 15 digs to lead Coastal Carolina to a thrilling five-set win over the Dukes to move to 10-0 in the SBC.
On the year, the outside hitter leads the Sun Belt with 4.49 kills per set and 5.25 points per set. She is ranked 12th nationally in kills per set and ninth in points per set.
Coastal Carolina will take to the road on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 27-28, when it travels to Huntington, W.V., for a two-match series with the Marshall Thundering Herd. Friday's match is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. ET with a 1 p.m. ET start slated for Saturday's contest.
