No. 1E Coastal Carolina to Battle No. 4W Louisiana in Quarterfinals

Volleyball clinched the Sun Belt Conference regular season title at Texas State
CONWAY, S.C. – The No. 1E Coastal Carolina volleyball team will travel to Foley, Ala., to open the 2023 Sun Belt Conference tournament versus the No. 4W Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns on Friday, Nov. 17, at 2:30 p.m. ET in the quarterfinal round. The match is scheduled to be streamed on ESPN+.
SUN BELT REGULAR SEASON CHAMPS
This is the fourth Sun Belt Conference regular season title and first for Coastal Carolina since the 2020 season.
HISTORY BETWEEN COASTAL & LOUISIANA
The Chanticleers lead the all-time series 7-0 and have gone more than four sets twice. Coastal Carolina swept the Ragin' Cajuns in the last meeting in Foley, Ala.
ABOUT COASTAL
The Chanticleers enter the match with a 19-9 overall record and finished 14-2 in the Sun Belt after splitting a pair of road contests with the Texas State Bobcats. Coastal snapped eight-match losing streak as the Chants earned a 3-1 win on Nov. 9 to clinch the regular season SBC crown.
Coastal is led by the reigning Sun Belt Player and Offensive Player of the Year Jasmine Rivest, who has 432 kills on the season and 500.5 points for a 4.45 points per set average. Rivest, a redshirt senior, is joined by the SBC Freshman of the Year Jalyn Stout, who has 305 kills for 343.5 points. Stout also has 423 assists and 283 digs for an NCAA-best 13 triple-doubles. Lauren Malone and Agata Lesiak have helped out the offense with 205 and 203 spikes, respectively. Cagla Bengi is Coastal's assists leader with 722.
On the defensive side, All-Sun Belt second team libero Sydney Lewis helps the offense get set up with a team-high 409 digs. Valentina Varani and Dilara Unal protect the front line with 101 and 96 blocks, respectively, while Rivest (52), Lesiak (49), and Stout (26) have over 25 blocks on the year.

The Ragin' Cajuns enter the match at 19-12 overall and wrapped up SBC play at 9-7. Louisiana is currently riding a four-match winning streak having knocked Old Dominion out in the second round of the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Volleyball Championship.
Shyia Richardson and Celeste Darling lead the Cajuns' offensive attack with 375 and 295 kills, respectively, while Kara Barnes (199) and Cami Hicks (185) have added over 180 spikes. Louisiana's offense is aided by Siena DeCambra (1,136), Mio Yamamoto (116), and Maddi Fritz (106) who has a combined 1,358 of the team's 1,449 assists on the season.
The Ragin' Cajuns' defense is led by Hicks (103) and Mya Wilson (77) as the only Louisiana defenders with 75 or more blocks, while Barnes has stopped 67 kill attempts. Yamamoto has 478 digs to lead the Cajuns while Kennedy Gustafson and DeCambra have added 289 and 272 digs, respectively.
