Taylor leads Chants on first day of action

DURHAM, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina University's men's golf team shot a 26-over 602 (304-298) to finish the first day of competition of the Rod Myers Invitational in 11th place on Sunday at the Duke University Golf Club.

Seth Taylor led the Chants with a four-over 148 (72-76) to finish the day tied for 29th. Garrett Cooper shot a six-over 150 (76-74) to end the day tied for 39th.

Jack Lee is tied for 49th after carding a seven-over 151 (77-74), while Trace McDonald shot a nine-over 153 (79-74) and is tied for 53rd. Ludvig Eriksson is 70th after shooting a 15-over 159 (80-79).

Host Duke leads the event with a seven-under 569 (278-291) and Louisville is second at five-under 571 (293-278). UNCW is third at two-under 574 (292-282), while NC State (+2, 578) and Charlotte (+4, 580) round out the top five.

UNCG (+11, 587) is sixth while Princeton, Virginia Tech and Penn State are tied for seventh at 13-over 589. East Carolina (+23, 599) is just three strokes in front of CCU (+26, 602), and Loyola (Md.) (+27, 603) rounds out the field.
