NEW ORLEANS – Coastal Carolina setter
Jalyn Stout was named the Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week for her performances versus the College of Charleston Cougars and Georgia Southern Eagles last week, the league office announced on Tuesday. It is the second conference weekly award for the Chants this season and the second for the sophomore in her career.
The Gainesville, Fla., native finished with 46 kills, 54 assists, and 50 digs to average a triple-double while leading the Chants to a 3-0 record for the week. For the season, Stout has tallied 3011 kills, 435 assists, and 297 digs. The 5-10 setter set a new NCAA record with 15 triple-doubles on the season, breaking the mark of 14 she set last season.
In the opening match last Tuesday, the sophomore setter recorded her 13th triple-double by one kill as she tallied 15 kills, 18 assists, and 13 digs as the Chanticleers won 3-1 in a non-conference matchup with the Cougars.
On Friday, Stout accounted for 15 kills, 19 assists, and 18 digs to record her NCAA record tying 14th triple-double of the season and 28th of her career as Coastal picked up its fifth straight victory over the Eagles with a 3-1.
In the series finale, Stout set a new NCAA record by recording her 15th triple-double of the season to lead Coastal to a 3-1 comeback win to give the Chants their sixth consecutive win over Georgia Southern.
Coastal Carolina will remain in Conway, S.C., as the Chanticleers will wrap up the home portion of the 2024 schedule by hosting the Texas State Bobcats for a two-match series on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 8-9. Friday's match is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. ET with a 2 p.m. ET start slated for Saturday's contest.
