CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina cross country swept both races at the Chanticleer Challenge at the at the Hackler Golf Course on Friday evening.
The Chanticleer women started the winning with 26 points, ahead of UNC Pembroke with 41 points.
Addison Laughlin was the top Chant finisher, winning the race with a time of 18:31.0, while
Amilia Wise-Sweat was third with a time of 19:03.1.
CCU finished 6-7-9-10-11 behind
Jenna Lang (6th, 19:19.2),
Erin McQuitty (7th, 19:38.3),
Olivia Goeser (9th, 19:59.8),
Bethany Simpson (10th, 20:07.8), and
Katelyn Porter (11th, 20:35.2).
On the men's side, the Chanicleers finished first with 15 points, while The Citadel was second with 57 points. The top seven finishers were Chanticleers as
Adam Groves won with a time of 25:07.7.
Trey Kraimer finished second (25:34.8) and
Ethan Blackwelder placed third (26:02.9).
Coastal's lineup rounded out the scoring as
Dylan Payer placed fifth (26:08.5),
Sterling Sellier finished sixth (26:13.5),
Garrett Ricardo ended seventh (26:19.9), and
Jackson Brungart placed ninth (26:53.7). Nehemia Cionelo hd a strong showing, running unattached and finishing third with a time of 25:34.8.
The Chanticleers are back in action on Friday, Oct. 4 at the Pirate Invitational hosted by East Carolina.
