RALEIGH, N.C. - Coastal Carolina closed out the Wolfpack Invitational in exciting fashion, rallying for a 30-28 fourth set victory to defeat host NC State, 3-1 (25-22, 15-25, 25-18, 30-28), at Reynolds Coliseum on Sunday for its sixth consecutive victory.
Junior
Jalyn Stout was named the tournament's MVP, recording three triple-doubles with a total of 47 kills, 46 assists, and 42 digs with 10 blocks and a .300 hitting percentage. Juniors
Emily Fowler and
Anna Rita were named to the all-tournament team.
Fowler sealed the match for Coastal Carolina (7-2) with back-to-back kills after it trailed 23-18. She finished the match with 17 kills, five blocks, and five digs. Rita had 10 kills and nine total blocks.
Stout recorded her fifth triple-double of the season with 15 kills, 16 assists, and 16 digs.
The Chanticleers out-hit NC State (6-2), .244-.181, and tallied 14 total blocks compared to the Wolfpack's 10. There were 24 ties and nine lead changes throughout the match.
QUICK SET SYNOPSIS
• Coastal got out to an 11-3 lead in the opening set after scoring the first four points of the frame. NC State fought back to tie the set at 20-all. Rita broke the tie with a kill, and
Bailee Earnhardt put the Chants up two points with a service ace.

• The Wolfpack used an 11-2 run to take a 19-12 lead in the second set on its way to a 25-15 win. NC State forced the Chants into a .186 hitting percentage, while posting its highest hitting percentage of the match, .286.
• Coastal built an 8-1 lead to start the third set behind five kills and three NC State attack errors. The Wolfpack battled back to make it a one-point set, 13-12, but the Chants didn't falter and quickly extended their lead back to seven, 23-16. Rita scored the final two points with a kill and a solo block and CCU prevailed 25-18.
• The fourth set was a back-and-forth affair as neither team was able to gain more than a three-point advantage through the first 30 points. NC State scored four consecutive points-as part of an 8-3 run-to break a 15-15 tie and moved out to a 23-18 lead. CCU scored the next six points to take a 24-23 lead. There were five ties and three lead changes as the side battled into extra points with Fowler scoring the final three points after the Wolfpack took a 28-27 lead.
NOTES & STATS
• The Chants are off to their best nine-game start since going 7-2 to start the 2021 season.
• Coastal improved to 3-2 all-time against NC State, defeating the Wolfpack for the second straight season at Reynolds Coliseum.
• The Chanticleers are 2-2 against Power 4 opponents this season with wins over Maryland and NC State and 2-0 in true road games (at Davidson, at NC State).
• Stout recorded her 38th career triple-double and third consecutive.

Ava Wallis distributed a season-best 29 assists, matching her career-high set against South Alabama and Arkansas State last season.
• Earnhardt collected a career-best 22 digs, and Rinard had a career-high six total blocks.
NEXT MATCH
The Chants will travel to Miami for the 305 Invitational on Thursday and Friday. Coastal will face the Hurricanes on Thursday and then take on FIU on Friday.
