Coastal Track & Field Heads South to Compete at the East Coast Relays

Chanticleers will compete on Friday & Saturday in Florida
CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University men's and women's outdoor track & field teams will have their final regular-season tune-up this weekend, April 28-29, at the East Coast Relays hosted by the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla.
Women's Team
Coastal's women's team will send 22 student-athletes to competed at the highly-touted regional meet, highlighted by back-to-back Sun Belt Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week selections Alexis Glasco (April 19) and Sydney Clemens (April 26).
Sophomore Camryn Lorick is set to compete in the 100-meters, while junior sprinter Kayla Sweeney will compete in both the 100 and 200-meter events and classmate Clemens will run in the 200-meters.
The Chants will have three sprinters race in both the 200 and 400-meter runs in Amelia Canetto, Lauren Gordon, and Brianna Tillman, while the Women in Teal will also have three distance runners compete at the two-day event with sophomore Amelia Wise-Sweat competing in the 800 and 1500-meters and both Molly Jones and Ellie Wolski running in the 1500-meters as well.
In the two hurdles events, Clemens, Glasco, Amanda Kinloch, and Alyssa Smith are set to compete in the 100-meter hurdles, while Glasco, Kinloch, and Smith will also race in the 400-meter hurdles event.
In the field events, first-year Chants Mia Lewis, Claire Spiller, and Naturee Thomas will jump in both the long jump and triple jump events, while both Destiny St. Cyr and Keiran Martin will take part in the long jump.
Competing in the pole vault will be both redshirt junior Kynnedy Dennis and freshman Olivia Lee, while Kadasia Evans and Lorick will participate in the high jump event.
Sophomore throwers Zayna Fray-Samuel and Lauralyn Clifford will both compete in the hammer throw event.
Men's Team
The men's team will also have 22 Chants compete at the East Coast Relays, led by the sprints and hurdles group.
Coming off perhaps his best performance as a Chant last week at the USC Open, Garrett Wilkins will headline the sprints group in both the 100 and 200-meter events. Fellow sprinters Ashlund Dixon and DeVonte Harris will also compete in the 100-meters, while Deondre Hardy is scheduled to also race in both the 100 and 200-meters.
First-year Chant Jaaiver Jackson will take part in the 100 and 400-meter events, while veterans Albrey Gossett, Robert Johnson, and Brendan Kovar will race in the 200-meters and Johnson, Kovar, Adrian Nwakalor, and Isaiah Thomas will run in the 400-meters.
Running in the hurdles events on the weekend for the Chants will be hurdlers Braydon Bennett, Gossett, and Jaquon Williams in the 110-meter hurdles, while junior Tyler Graves is set to compete in both the 110 and 400-meter hurdles events.
CCU's Jack Benoit is signed up to compete in the 800-meters, Trey Kraimer will compete in the 1500-meters, and both George Werner Jr. and Ethan Blackwelder will race in the 3000-meter steeplechase event.
Throwers Major Chestnut, Michael Martello, and Chance Tressler will compete in the discus event, while Tressler and Martello will both throw the shot put. Martello will also compete in the hammer throw event along with fellow Chant Killian Oberheu.
Veteran Aaron Keeler will take part in the javelin throw, while freshman Hardy will be the lone jumper for the Chants at the regional event.
