Crenshaw looks to defend his title

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University men's golf team will be back in action at the Golfweek Challenge Sept. 10-12 at the True Blue Golf Club in Pawleys Island, S.C.

Golfweek will host the three-day, 54-hole event, with the teams playing 18 holes on each day.

The Chanticleers will join 13 other teams at the event, which includes Jacksonville State, Eastern Kentucky, Charleston Southern, Stephen F. Austin, Washington State, Jacksonville University, New Orleans, Presbyterian, Wright State, Loyola Marymount, Western Carolina, Richmond, and fellow Sun Belt member Arkansas State.

All 10 members of the Chants' team will play in the event with Seth Taylor, Jack Lee, Garrett Cooper, Connor Bennink, and Carlos Garre serving as the top five players. Other team members playing as individuals are Trace McDonald, Owen Kim, Trey Crenshaw, Brady Duval, and Ludvig Eriksson.

Crenshaw will be looking to defend his True Blue title that he won last season in record-setting fashion. Crenshaw shot an 18-under 198 (65-68-65) that set a 54-hole program record, eclipsing the previous mark of 15-under that was held by former CCU standouts Dustin Johnson and Zack Byrd. His 54-hole score of 198 tied the previous-best mark set by Johnson back in 2005.
