Shaun Docking Announces Retirement

Legendary head coach retires after 26 years at Coastal

CONWAY ---- Legendary Coastal Carolina men's soccer head coach Shaun Docking has retired, effective immediately, it was announced Wednesday.

"I want to thank everyone at Coastal," Docking said. "It has been a wonderful experience and opportunity for me, and I have nothing but fondness and great memories.

"I know this year's team is great with a lot of potential and I will be rooting for them and the staff to fulfill that potential. They can count on me to be cheering them on from the stands and on TV this year!

"It is now time for me to pursue some business opportunities and ventures that I have been working on as I am very excited about my next chapter in my career."

In 26 seasons at the helm in Conway, Docking led the Chanticleers to a 312-167-56 record with 23 conference championships between the Big South and Sun Belt. His teams earned 11 trips to the NCAA Tournament as he was recognized as conference coach of the year eight times.

During his 28-year career as a head coach, Docking mentored 25 players who eventually went on to play professional soccer.

"From his first day at Coastal Carolina, coach Docking has built a men's soccer program that has excelled on and off the field," Chance Miller, Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics and University Recreation, said. "His leadership has not only developed outstanding soccer players but also shaped young men into leaders prepared for success beyond the game. His commitment to our university, his student-athletes, and the community has left a lasting impact, and we are deeply grateful for his years of dedication."

Assistant coach Chris Fidler has been named acting interim head coach.
