Volleyball Set To Host Exhibition Against High Point

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina volleyball team will get its first taste of outside competition on Saturday, Aug. 15, when it hosts High Point in an exhibition match.
The match is scheduled for 1 p.m. inside the HTC Center and is open to the public. The parking lot adjacent to the HTC Center will be closed to Fall 2026 Move-In. Free parking will be available at Britain Hall.
The Chanticleers return two starters — Anzley Rinard and Anna Rita — and four additional letterwinners from last year's 18-11 squad, which finished second in the Sun Belt Conference East Division with a 10-6 record. Rita earned second-team All-Sun Belt honors and ranked fourth in the conference with 143 blocks, while Rinard leads all returning players with 203 kills.
Four sophomores — Elin Andersson, Kayla Channell, Bella Loeswick and Julia Rivera — also return. Rivera played in 23 sets last season, while Andersson, Channell and Loeswick appeared in a combined 24 sets as freshmen.
This year's roster features eight newcomers — four transfers and four freshmen. All four transfers bring Division I experience. Natalie Hughes played three seasons at San Diego State, Jonna Spohn spent three years at Maryland, and Hatteras Welker and Kaylee Musick played two seasons at Eastern Michigan and FIU, respectively. Abby Bucey, Isabele Filardo, Talia Johnson and Viara Parapunova make up the freshman class.
High Point returns 10 players from its 2025 Big South championship team, including first-team All-Big South outside hitter Élodie Lalonde, second-team All-Big South setter Remy Catojo and Big South Freshman of the Year Maya Bukovcan.
The Chanticleers continue exhibition play at Winthrop on Saturday, Aug. 22, before lifting the lid on the regular season against Duke on Aug. 28 inside the HTC Center.
